Royfuss Archives

I like writing. I don't know if I always liked writing, but I started my first blog in 2003 when I was in high school. Since then, I have written blogs in various forms. This site, Royfuss Archives, combines all the blog posts into one central archive. Some tweaks have been made to the formatting, but it is mostly unedited from the originals. I added "author notes" when I did any heavier changes, or just to make the post more searchable due to my bad spelling.

My first blog was on Blogger in 2003. It was a simple and free service. I used it all through high school, and even a little bit of college until 2007. I called it "Roy's Ruckus." I used to talk about personal things, like school, church and work. Of course, you can read it here, but you can also look at my archived version here.

I started wanting more, so my brother and I went in together on a web server in 2005. I bought the domain "royfuss.com" and I have had it since. I had several ideas for the site: hosting media, forums, reviews, and other projects. However, I mainly used it as a second blog. My brother built a simple PHP/MySQL posting tool, and I used that for a while. In 2006, we ran into issues with our web host, and they did not backup our stuff. I ended up losing a few posts. I decided to hard code all my posts. I continued doing so through 2010, and it became my main blog after I stopped using Blogger. I mainly talked about video games, and website ideas. However, I did talk about some personal stuff. You can read an archive here, but you can also see what the website looked like in from 2007 to 2010 here.

In 2011, I stated a new website called "Your Personal Gamer." I wanted it to be a website about video games for gamers. Mainly, I would blog about video games. I decided on using WordPress, and enjoyed using it. I even built a custom theme. With college wrapping up, managing two websites became burdensome. So, I shuttered the website. It was folded into Royfuss, and you can still read the posts on the main site here.

After enjoying WordPress so much, I decided to move the main site for Royfuss to the platform. I archived the old posts and design, but I did not import them into WordPress. Basically, I started over. I did not enjoy creating custom themes, so I went with a free theme. I have changed themes a few times, but the blog keeps chugging along.

After college, I started posting less and less. From 2014 through 2021, I posted less than ten posts a year; some years I only posted once. In 2022, I made a goal to post once per month, and I have been having fun doing that ever since. Very seldom do I miss a month, but I average more than 12 posts a year. You can keep up with me here.

I hope you enjoy reading through my posts. There are several ways to navigate. You can go through the posts chronologically. You can, also, check them out by category or era. You can also search if there is something specific you want to find. However you do it, thank you for reading.
