Roy's Ruckus

I used Blogger in high school and a little while in college. I called the blog “Roy’s Ruckus.” I really loved blogging. I tried to blog every day; sometimes I blogged multiple times a day. I wanted to archive it and host it on my webserver. I just did not know exactly how I wanted to do it.

I wanted to bring over the look and feel. My memories of the blog shoot straight to an orange theme I had at one point. The sidebar looks almost the same as the Blogger version. Many of the links were my daily web browsing.

Bringing over the posts was a complicated effort. I went back and forth on how I should do it. I thought about only archiving the most important posts. I also debated how much I should change the posts.

I decided to bring over every single post, except for the posts that got duplicated. I did not edit the posts at all, except for adding paragraphs, and some minor formatting changes. The changes make the posts easier to read even with the horrendous grammar and spelling. I know no one is going to read every single post, except for me. That’s okay. This archive is for me.

I created an Index Map. The first two sections are the “greatest hits” of all the posts. I suggest reading all those posts. The rest of the sections are just an index of entertainment.

It was fun going through every post. I got to reminisce. The poor grammar and lack of editing is obvious, but the content stands out to me.

It was cool seeing my grammar getting better as time went; my spelling became almost perfect after Blogger introduced a spellcheck.

I had a blog buddy, who I have never met. No idea what happened to her, but she deleted her blog.

My brother and I bonded through the blog when he moved to another state. He really wanted me to switch to Linux.

For a tech guy I got a lot of viruses. I needed to stop downloading sketchy programs.

I had a lot of fun in my church’s youth group. I met a lot of friends and had many unique experiences.

Lots of Homestar Runner quotes.

I enjoyed my “words of wisdom” straight from bubble gum wrappers.

I wrote an unfinished mystery.

My introspection from experiencing death.

There are a lot of teenage experiences I love reading about. My first car and breaking it several times. My first job, following by a slightly better job. Being miserable after my wisdom teeth were removed. Graduating from high school and moving on to college.

If you can bear the randomness and atrocious grammar, I hope you enjoy reading it. Otherwise, archiving it was for me.

Thank you for reading.
